2025 Perioperative Care Congress research competition – Abstract submission

DEADLINE

  • Abstract and award submission deadline: September 4th, 2025, 23:59 ET.
  • Abstract and award notification: October 1st, 2025
  • Deadline to submit abstract presentation and e-posters: October 27, 2025, 23:59 ET

GENERAL GUIDELINES 

  • There is no fee to submit an abstract. Authors are responsible for all costs associated with presenting their abstract including registration.
  • Monetary prizes will be awarded for the top abstracts for each category of submission.
  • The top abstracts of each category will be selected for oral presentation on Friday, November 7th, 2025. Presenters will have 7 minutes to present their abstracts, and 3 minutes to answer questions. Abstracts not selected for oral presentation may be selected to prepare and present a e-poster presentation. E-poster presentation will also take place on Friday, November 7th, 2025. All presentations will be in person.
  • Top abstracts may also be offered the opportunity to publish their abstract in the Canadian Journal of General Internal Medicine. Authors will be emailed and will have the opportunity to offer or decline publication.
  • Case Reports/Series are accepted, but may only be eligible for e-poster presentation. We encourage original science.
  • Scientific abstracts that have already been presented at another conference are accepted, but may not be published or accepted for publication at the time of abstract submission. The submitting author is responsable of ensuring that all required authorizations are obtained, if applicable.
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present their work.
  • A submitter should not “split” data to create several abstracts from one. If splitting is judged to have occurred, scores of related abstracts will be reduced.
  • Abstracts containing identical or nearly identical data submitted from the same institution and/or individuals may be disqualified.
  • Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present their work.
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts an individual may submit.

ABSTRACT FORMATTING 

  • Language – Submissions must be in English for the purpose of review.
  • Character Limit – The maximum number of words is 500 words. Title and authors are not included in the maximum word count.

  • Titles must be in English.
  • Type the title directly in the space provided.
  • Title can be in upper- and lower-case letters but do not type in all upper-case letters.

Author information

  • Enter the name, credentials, affiliation, career stage, and contact information for the submitting author in the corresponding field.
  • Enter the complete list of authors in the order your wish to appear, including the name of the submitting author. E.g., John N Smith, Jane Doe, John Doe.

Abstract

Please include section titles in your submission.

  1. a) BACKGROUND: A brief statement of the purpose of the study.
  2. b) METHODS/RESULTS: A statement of the method(s) of investigation & a summary of the results presented in sufficient detail to support conclusions.
  3. c) CONCLUSION: A brief statement of results reached – it is not acceptable to state “the results will be discussed”.
